Maureen Helen is a writer with a PhD (Writing) from Edith Cowan University. She has a Bachelors Degree in Social Science and Graduate Diplomas in Counselling and Women’s Studies. She spent her working life in the caring professions (nurse, midwife, counsellor, advocate and manager).
Her books written after retirement from the paid workforce include memoirs Other People’s Country and Elopement. She has published short stories, poetry and professional (nursing) articles. She is currently writing her first (serious) long fiction.

She lives with her second husband in Perth, Western Australiaand is a mother of six, grandmother of seventeen and great-grandmother of six.
