Learning music is good for our brains, or so science tells us. And, apparently, it’s never too late to start. There’s evidence that learning to play an instrument changes the brain more than any other activity.
Homelessness. I’ve been thinking about it a lot this Advent. It hangs heavily on my mind. I’ve known about homelessness since I was a young woman. I’m beginning to see it differently now, thanks to a series of apparently random events earlier this year led to an invitation for me to manage a writing project for the Spirit of the Streets Choir. I’ve heard stories about homelessness from members of the choir.
Rehearsal day, and I’m hanging out for it. I can’t believe this! I’m no singer yet I’m looking forward to singing.
It’s been a tough week. John and I have had heavy colds and John had an appointment with a skin specialist for day surgery. The surgery was successful, but he’s been left with a dressing stuck to his hair and a sore head. Continue reading
